The Iguana is also known as the "Little Dragon." The front-loading configuration is similar to the Paragon DRAGON-24 kiln, but it is much less expensive. Still it offers an ample 4.2 cubic ft. interior.

The IGUANA is powered with reliable extra heavy-duty elements. This results in long element life, because the elements do not “struggle” to reach high temperatures. 10,800 watts heat the 18” wide, 18” deep, 22 ½” high interior to a full cone 10.

Easy to Load

The Iguana is easy on the back muscles. With the optional 22” stand, the interior floor height is a comfortable 34 ½”.

Industrial-gauge elements are seated and protected in dropped, recessed firebrick grooves. The elements are easy to replace, because you can comfortably reach into the kiln.

Potters and ceramists who struggle with top-loading kilns will enjoy the Iguana. The door swings open wide on a heavy ½” steel rod with sealed bearings. A spring-loaded latch presses the door tightly closed. A recessed firebrick lip around the door seals in heat.

The Sentry digital controller is manufactured by Orton Ceramic Foundation. It is unsurpassed in reliability for a controller in its price range. It includes a programmed cool-down, Cone-Fire and Ramp-Hold modes, and is capable of accepting types K, R, or S thermocouples. A type-K thermocouple with an Inconel® sheath comes standard. We also recommend the optional Type-S for stoneware and porcelain.

  • Options

    Optional Furniture Kit

The furniture kit consists of carefully selected fireclay shelves and posts for this particular model. The furniture allows you to stack multiple layers of ware. Without it, you could fire only the ware that would fit on the kiln bottom.

    Iguana Furniture Kit
    • 3 C-17 full shelves (16” x 14” x 5/8”)
    • 1 C-17H half shelf (8” x 14” x 5/8”)
    • 1” wide square posts, 4 each in lengths of ½”, 1”, 2”, 3”, 4”, 5”, 6”
    • 1 lb. bag kiln wash
    Optional Kiln Stand

22” tall stand (pictured) The stand is not necessary if you have a table, or work bench able to support up to 600 lbs.

    Optional Sentinel touch-screen controller

This kiln can be ordered with the optional Sentinel Smart Touch controller instead of the standard Sentry 3.0 12-key controller. Click Here to learn more about this exciting new technology.

    Optional Door Safety Switch

The optional door safety switch turns off power to the heating elements when the door is opened. The controller remains powered. The switch turns the power to the elements back on when the door is closed. IMPORTANT: The door safety switch is required in some areas such as Canada and Europe.

    Optional Type-S Themocouple

Optional Type-S premium-grade thermocouple for single-zone 2 1/2" - 3" wall kilns. Ideal for firings above cone 4. It is extremely long lasting even at stoneware temperatures.

Optional Orton KilnMaster 120 Kiln Vent

The patented Orton Vent Master not only vents fumes but also improves firing results. Click Here to learn more!

    Optional AOP Outlet

The Auxiliary Output is available on the Iguana. The AOP is a relay-powered electrical receptacle mounted to the kiln. You can plug an Orton KilnVent into the AOP to control when the vent turns on during firing.

Optional colors at no extra charge

Brighten your studio with color! Order your kiln in one of our standard colors at no extra charge . . . berry, black, blue, hot pink, jade, navy, purple, or turquoise.

    The Digital Controller

The Sentry 12-key controller has powerful features that you will enjoy using. Yet we have also worked hard to make the controller user-friendly.

Do you ever wonder how much electricity your kiln uses? The digital controller can figure this for you with the press of a button. Find out how little a kiln actually costs to fire. Learn to conserve energy by experimenting with firing speed, load density, etc.

For your peace of mind, the Iguana includes a safety switch that shuts off power to the controller when not in use.

The ventilated switch box is generously louvered for air circulation for the long life of the electrical components. Yet dust is kept to a minimum.
