Pearl-44 Professional Glass Kiln (with Furniture Kit)

by Paragon Industries, Inc.
Glass Fusing    Glass Painting    Glass Slumping
Glass must be fired on a shelf.  All of our Paragon glass kilns are priced with the recommended furniture kit included ($280.05 value).

The Pearl44 quickly pays for itself by producing large glass panels or production loads of small pieces. The Pearl-44 is designed for those whose livelihood depends on glass production.

The Pearl-44 top lifts away to give convenient access to the shelf area. Heavy-duty air pistons lighten the top. Assemble glass pieces directly on shelves that are already in the kiln.

The kiln includes features not found on competitive kilns. For instance, mercury relays are standard on this kiln for your peace of mind. Relays send power to the elements on command from the digital controller. Industrial-grade mercury relays found in the Pearl44 far outlast mechanical relays. The life of the quiet, reliable mercury relay has been measured in millions of on/off cycles.

For unsurpassed heat distribution, the Pearl-44 includes sidewall elements, which are mounted in the top section. The lid elements use an element groove that eliminates element pins. Because the element coils are wider than the groove opening, the elements stay in place without pins. The sidewall element coils are protected in dropped, recessed grooves.

The kiln uses advanced power ratio technology pioneered by Paragon, to balance the heat between the top and side elements. Program the digital controller to balance the heat between the top and sides in increments of 10%. (i.e., 100% top - 0% sides, 50% top - 50% sides, 80% top – 20% sides, etc.) Set the heat balance for any combination desired between the top and sides so that the total heat output equals 100%. Imagine the precise control you will have in adjusting the kiln to slump glass or to improve heat distribution over large fused panels.

The Pearl-44 has firebrick sidewalls and bottom and a 3”-thick ceramic fiber top. For long life, the firebrick sidewalls include expansion joints. The heavy tubular frame gives the firing chamber rock-steady support. These are some of the reasons the Pearl-44 is so reliable.

To keep the electrical components cool, they are mounted away from the firing chamber inside a ventilated switch box with a double heat shield and air gap between the kiln and box. Costly heavy-gauge nickel-plated copper wiring is covered with high temperature glass-braided insulation. The thermocouple, which senses temperature inside the kiln, is protected with a high-nickel stainless steel sheath for long life. The Pearl-44 uses the digital 12-key Sentry 2.0 controller.

You will be amazed at the convenience of digital firing. The reliable solid-state Sentry Controller continually monitors the firing so you can spend your time productively without closely watching the kiln.

Paragon’s innovative controller will help you achieve consistent results from one firing to the next. The controller has powerful features that you will enjoy using. Yet we have also worked hard to make the controller user-friendly.

Do you ever wonder how much electricity your kiln uses? The digital controller can figure this for you with the press of a button. Find out how little a kiln actually costs to fire.

Upgrade to the Sentinel Smart Touch Controller

You may want to upgrade to the new Smart Touch Controller (Retail $122.40 - Our price $109)

The Pearl-44 has a durable high temperature, water-base finish. We chose water-base paint because of the low emissions during spraying. This creates a safer working environment for our employees and cuts down on pollution.

Features of the Pearl-44

  • Heating elements in the top of the kiln are mounted in pinless grooves.
  • ¼” heavy duty sheathed Type-K thermocouple
  • 12-key Sentry 2.0 digital controller
  • Safety switch and pilot light
  • Air pistons assist lifting the lid.
  • Louvered switch box, heavy duty wiring
  • Heavy tubular steel frame for rock-steady support.

The Pearl-44 Furniture Kit

Glass must be fired on a ceramic shelf; never directly on the kiln firing chamber bottom, so the Furniture Kit is required, and included in our price.

2 - C-20 - 20” Square Shelves

8 - 1” wide Square Posts, ½” long

2 lb. Bag Glass Separator

Optional Orton VentMaster Kiln Vent (Retail $657.21 - our price $525)

The patented Orton Vent Master not only vents fumes but also improves firing results. At this price, the vent is factory-installed onto the back of the kiln.

It pulls fresh oxygen into the kiln for brighter colors. The Vent Master draws air from the kiln, dilutes it with room air, and pushes it outdoors through a vent hose.

The Vent Master removes fumes containing volatile metals, fluorides and sulphur oxides. You can fire even lusters, decals, metallics, and pate-de-verre glass without strong odor.

Designed for production

Paragon’s warranty is not affected by frequency of use. Fire your new kiln every day if you want, even in commercial settings. That will have no effect on the warranty period.
